Displaying pretext
Todd Richards' job security is in question. However, the Wild coach is not sweating reports that he could be fired, perhaps as soon as Monday if his team loses back-to-back road games against the Kings and Ducks on Saturday and Sunday.
"It goes with the job," Richards said. "It goes with the territory."
The Wild snapped a five-game winless streak Thursday with a 3-2 road victory over the Coyotes. However, the Wild is 1-5-2 in its last eight games and with ownership promising a playoff spot this season, general manager Chuck Fletcher may been forced to fire Richards, his close friend, if things don't turn around soon.
"[Fletcher] definitely has my back," Richards said. "I don't feel concerned or threatened, [but] I know how this business works. I'm not a dummy. I've been around the block. It's always about the results. Everyone's accountable."
