The Coyotes turnaround was the surprise story of 2009-10, as Phoenix made a massive 27 point improvement in the standings compared to 2008-09. Having gone through hot and cold stretches this season, Phoenix is currently on pace for 97 points (5th in the West), a smidge better than what VUKOTA projected. On the other hand, in the extremely talented Western Conference, "faltering" even down to the mid-nineties might only get you a low seed and a one-and-done with the likes of a Vancouver or Detroit.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
In the offseason, the Coyotes picked up an excellent faceoff man, Eric Belanger, to go with their Swiss Army Knife, Vernon Fiddler. And you might think that Paul Bissonnette of the zero points in 22 GP is only good for hitting, but at least you can say that he is +4 in plus-minus.
